Wait, what?

When did dA get the facelift?

I approve. I demand that you take over the redesign teams of last.fm and myspace, because they have no idea what is going on.

They all seem to have the idea that facebook is the epitome of good design. It isn't.

It occurs to me that dA and Wikipedia have been almost completely replaced by Pamplemousse and 4chan and 2ch.ru when it comes to idle web-surfing.

I have a wordpress blog, where I write properly.

Popping in (and out again)

I got linked something, and then looked through the massive backlog of messages and stuff. DeviantArt is still here. I never thought it wouldn't be, but am still a little bit surprised.

I have not been on deviantArt for a few months, and I probably won't be back in any significant way any time soon.

Things have changed, in ways both good and bad.

School is becoming more demanding (final year), and a full-on social life suddenly appears, then goes away, then appears again.

Also, I have found other ways to waste my time on the internet. I don't mean that to be insulting - rather: anything I uploaded, and my endless browsing here were not productive. I browse elsewhere, and frantically type elsewhere, and collect all my work in books or computer folders. It is not your attention that I feel I want right now.

Life's pretty cool.

Hi there, everyone.

The Crying Man

Walking down a backsteet in Adelaide, a man passed me, sobbing and moaning. A white guy, with "longer" hair and a blue shirt. He carried small bottles of both coke and fanta, each half-drunk, and an open carton of Iced Coffee.
From the shoulders up, he was visibly wet. He was dishevelled, and walked quickly, clutching these things to his chest. Whimpering.
He apologised to me as he walked past, I don't know why.
"No worries," I said.

His whimpering sounded apologetic, in general. Ill-formed words, and all, I couldn't really tell.

He then ducked across the one-way street thing, at a half-run, dropped the coke, fumbled, picked it up again, and ran past a few people who ignored him, on his miserable way.

Also, I saw three firetrucks, and earned some basic anti-tank qualification in BF2. Antho got auto-kicked from the server for posting "omg" (the "g" is a mincing of "god" - how sacrilegious). Disrespecting the bodies of fallen players is also "a bannable offence" there. We were playing on some obtusely religious host, which placed psalms and quotes in the events list every few minutes. We picked it intentionally, expecting something exactly that retarded, seeking (and receiving) entertainment.
What with patronising them in levels of subtlety unknown in online FPS battles.

You get a kill assist point.
You get a flag capture point.

Infernal Buses

Sun Jan 27, 2008, 7:20 AM
  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Gregorian
  • Watching: My computer freezing
  • Drinking: Pepsi Max
Leaving Alik's place at 10 PM, Nick's mother kindly drops me off on North Terrace, as I had requested, en route to their own place. I said politely, "thank you" and "goodbye", as my parents had taught me.
It's 10:30. "Are you sure your bus comes this late?"
"Oh yes," I replied, "I've caught it late before."

(Ending the paragraph there is ominous, maybe?)

At approximately 11:30, deciding that the wait was longer than usual for Adelaide's rather abominably tardy public transport system, I walked to the next stop in the series (visited by the same buses). A stop which actually has a timetable.
According to the chart, my last bus left at 10. I don't know if it were like this before the latest timetable overhaul. These violent upheavals of public transport routines occur far too often. But it's because of this that I usually favour half an hour on bike over indeterminate periods of waiting and a shorter transit period.

I will start now, and I will be there in precisely 12 minutes.
To brutally prune this story short, I walked through dark parks and down poorly lit suburban streets for another 90 minutes, arriving home at 1 AM. And, it was against a subtle slope the entire way! D:

I could have been mugged in my duckling-yellow T-shirt by roving midnight ... lawn bowlers ...
Do we have crime in this city? Besides maybe up north, where I started this misadventure? Is anyone actually on the streets this late?

Anyhow, am I to be expecting muscular pain at some point in the next few days? All of my muscles are, well, negligible save those used for pedalling a bicycle or climbing a staircase.

I'm back from my six-or-so week stay on Kangaroo Island (where my parents are). I haven't been "away", though, as they have overpriced dodgy Satellite Broadband for rural areas. Spectacular cooks as they are, even doing their chores (and odd jobs [link] (Oh hi, internets)), I have gained 6 kg, which I expect to lose quickly now that I have resumed The Noodle Diet.
To specify, I eat two packets of Mi Goreng for breakfast, one plate of whatever is provided for dinner, and commute everywhere en velo. And that's about it.

Also, it's 5 degrees (Celsius) cooler on K.I at any given moment, during summer at least, and that's bad as far as being in Adelaide is concerned.

'Night, I suppose.
